HOW I MADE 125K WITH 5000NGN INVESTMENT IN A FOREX PLATFORM IN 2020

Out of all hopelessness, through the trying times of that invincible but life-threatening virus that shut down every system around the world and commerce broke down, jobs shut down and the whole world focused on surviving the attack of the terrible virus across the globe; the year 2020 became the most tragic of all the years aforetime and nothing seem to be going right. Fear stroke down and survival meant a billion meaning to the world entirely.

However the 2020story is told based on the perspective of who’s telling the story, there’s definitely something spectacular that happened in 2020 that meant hope to you and me if we think about it, there’s actually a “something good” out of a darkest hour and in the most trying times.

I’ll like to share a story on how I made 125k from just a 5000NGN investment in a forex platform in the year 2020.

I and a distant friend were taking about investment during the lockdown, the entire world was online and the only way you could keep in-touch was to call or connect with your friends or family staying far away online. I was about to introduce my audience to an investment that attract 30 – 50% ROI of invested capital for a whole month and then there is this platform that will pay up to 100% ROI on invested capital in just two weeks.

How is that even possible?

So I went digging about the platform online because, like everyone else at that time; you want to know what people are saying about the platform and how legitimate it was, luckily the investment is just through an android application and all you need to do is pick an investment plan and wait for your investment to mature.

Here are the plans:

There are 4 investment plans on EARNERS FX

  1. Gold plan; Here you invest N5,000(5000efx) and get returns of N9250(9250efx) in 14days
  2. Diamond plan; Here you invest N10,000(10,000efx) and get returns of N20,000(20,000efx) in 14days
  3. Platinum plan; Here you invest N20,000(20,000efx) and get paid N45,000(45,000efx) 1MONTH
  4. Titanium plan; Here you invest N50,000(50,000efx) and get paid N125,000(125,000efx) in 1MONTH

So I started off with the Gold plan just to see if the app really works like I was told. To invest that amount of money was small so I decided to try that early August, I don’t know if I remembered to tell you that the Forex platform was launched June 2020 heard about it July but start investing around August like I mentioned earlier. Before the two weeks was over, I already told a few people who knew the nature of investment, so instead of getting a returns of 9,250 I had a balance of over 20,000 at the end of the my first investment in August. I’ll explain how that’s possible, the platform actually award an incentive as bonus to those who bring new investors to the platform so I my bonus added up to my matured earnings.

Here is the referral bonuses:

  • Gold = 1,200
  • Diamond = 1,500
  • Platinium = 3,000
  • Titanium = 5,000

NB: referral isn’t compulsory as investors will get paid via two medium, either by direct withdrawal into a crypto wallet or through an in-app transfer called ‘inter transfer.

So instead of going for the next plan which is Diamond, I went for Platinium which takes 30days, my matured earning should normally be 44,000 but as expected I had bonuses to top up my earnings as it was already obvious that the platform is legitimate, so by the end of September I was having a balance enough to take me to the last stage which is Titanium, as expected, my matured earning at the end of the next 30days was 125,000.

Isn’t that fruitful enough for a stress-free investment plan, remember I started small by investing what I could afford to loose and luckily it came out to be real for me.

You might not have heard about this earlier but its not too late as the platform is still very young and vibrant, make a move this November and do something differently before the end of this year.

Only those who take the risk reap the fruit thereof so what do you say?
That’s my own good story about 2020, what’s going to be yours?

Understanding how Ethereum Gas fee works

Ethereum transaction fees hits approximately all-time high (ATH) last week, with miners earning a record $500,000 in fees in a single hour.

While this is good news for Ethereum miners though, it’s a different story for users who are paying higher fees and longer wait times, with congestion on the network causing more unconfirmed transactions.

Many in the community have subsequently raised concerns about the network’s stability and whether the fees make it unsustainable, particularly as the decentralised finance (DeFi) boom – which many argue is causing high fees – shows no sign of abating.

In order to better understand this, let’s first break down how Ethereum transaction fees work.

How Ethereum fees work

Very simply, Ethereum runs on something called gas. Gas is a unit of measurement for the amount of computational power required to execute certain operations on the Ethereum blockchain. Every operation, be it a transaction or smart contract execution, requires some amount of gas. Gas is used to calculate the amount of fees owed to the network in order to execute the operation. Miners then receive compensation in Ether, which is equivalent to the total amount of gas it took them to execute a complete operation.

This is different to a cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin. This is because the Bitcoin blockchain is only geared to facilitate monetary transactions, with no way to add “conditions” to a transaction. For example, if you send someone 1 BTC, you wouldn’t be able to impose a condition on the transaction, like letting the recipient know they’ll only receive the money if they perform certain tasks. Smart contracts – which are generally run on the Ethereum blockchain – do allow for these types of conditions to be attached to a transaction. Because of this, smart contracts are handy for exchanges of property, shares or money, in a transparent manner without the need for a middleman, like a lawyer.

The table below from the Ethereum Yellow Paper indicates roughly how much a specific instruction will cost you in gas. According to the table, every transaction requires at least 21,000 gas.

Let’s use a popular analogy to better understand gas. Imagine you’re about to set off on a road trip. Before you go, you’d like to fill your car with fuel (or gas). You go to the gas station and specify how much gas you want to fill your car with. After your car’s been filled, you pay the gas station the amount of money you owe them for the gas.

Now, think of driving the car as being the operation you want to execute (like executing a function of a smart contract). The fuel in your car is the gas and the gas station is the miner. The money you paid the gas station is the miner fees. Therefore, technically, gas is the fuel powering the Ethereum network.

Importantly though, fuel isn’t a currency on its own. It needs to be bought and denominated into a currency, like the Dollar or Euro. The same goes for gas – in order for it to be paid, it needs to have its value expressed in Ether, the underlying cryptocurrency of the Ethereum network. There is no fixed price to convert gas to Ether, which means it’s up to buyers and sellers (miners) to come up with a price suitable to both parties.

In order to execute a transaction on the Ethereum network, the sender needs to specify a “gas limit” before submitting it to the network. The gas limit is the maximum amount someone is willing to pay for their instructions (or transaction) to go through and be processed.

Miners who process these transactions have a few options when they receive a pending transaction. First, they could accept the transaction by processing the instructions with their computers and decide to keep the attached fee set by the sender. Secondly, they could also refund some of the gas to the sender if the sender set a higher gas limit than was necessary for the transaction. On the other hand, they could decline the transaction if a sender sets a lower gas limit than what the market is paying at the time.

If a transaction’s instructions run out of gas mid-execution while a miner is processing it, it’s then “reverted back to its original state”, meaning the transaction has been returned to the sender. Regardless, the sender must still pay a fee to miners to compensate them for the computational power they spent processing the transaction, even if it was partially completed. Miners must also add the transaction to the blockchain, even if it wasn’t fully executed. If the sender specified a higher gas limit than was necessary, the miner would refund the difference to the sender.

This mechanism has its flaws, especially when it comes to transactions with high gas limits. For Bitcoin, paying more usually means a faster transaction time. But in Ethereum’s case, for each block on the Ethereum network, miners are bound by the maximum “block gas limit” which determines the maximum amount of gas that can be spent per block. With the current gas limit set at roughly 10,000,000 gas, miners are less inclined to include transactions with high gas limits as it would waste part of the block gas limit. Generally, such high gas transactions are likely to be refunded by the miner, resulting in miners being more interested in taking on smaller transactions.

For Ethereum to truly work as a world computer, fees on the network need to be tiny. Therefore, in order to pay these fees, Ether would need to be denominated in much smaller amounts. The most widely used denomination of Ether is “gwei”, also known as nanoether. 1 gwei = 0.000000001 ether (10^-9).

How to calculate Ethereum transaction fees

There are a number of ways to calculate the fees necessary to execute a transaction. Theoretically, due to the way the network is set up, a sender could select an arbitrary fee, but that wouldn’t really work since miners are incentivised by fees.

There are a variety of gas calculators available online, offering users a general idea of how much gas their transaction requires. Ethereum Gas Station, for example, is heralded for its accuracy and user-friendly interface. It’s important to remember that recommended prices are only estimated amounts that are subject to change.

It is also possible to determine transaction fees without an online calculator. A sender would need to know how much gas each operation on Ethereum requires, along with a basic understanding of the average market rate for gas prices.

Ethereum’s auction mechanism

Ethereum uses a “first price auction” system to price gas. For this to work, every sender submits a bid (or a gas limit) for how much they’re willing to pay. Miners then pick up desirable transactions and include them in the next block. Theoretically, this allows senders to prioritise their transactions by paying a higher fee, while also saving ETH through refunds. However, in reality, there are more significant flaws.

Usually, if a miner selects transactions with the highest bids, this causes senders to set even higher bids on other transactions they make. Due to a lack of transparency, there’s no way for someone to know what bids came with other pending transactions, which can result in overpaying. According to Eric Conner, founder of Ethhub, many users overpay by more than five times what was necessary. Luckily, there are improvements in the works with Ethereum 2.0, as users can expect to see major changes to the network sometime later this year. Arguably, one of the most notable changes will see Ethereum’s consensus mechanism shift from proof-of-work (PoW) to proof-of-stake (PoS).

How DeFi is upping the ante

Demand for Ether has increased significantly since mid-June, owing in part to an increasing number of users utilising DeFi platforms such as Uniswap, ultimately bottlenecking Ethereum’s network.

As a result, transaction fees have reached record highs and have even outpaced bitcoin.

While these increased fees are not ideal for users, Ethereum network fundamentals paint a healthy picture. The hash rate, for example, remains high. While Ethereum remains a PoW blockchain (for now), the hash rate is an important metric for blockchain security.

One of the biggest hurdles Ethereum (and Bitcoin) faces is scalability. In order for the network to effectively handle more users and increased functionality, its processing power would need to improve significantly.

This is why the most-anticipated change expected in Ethereum 2.0 is the consensus mechanism shift from PoW to PoS. The new blockchain protocol should address the decentralisation challenge by allowing more individual validators to participate and receive a return for maintaining the network. This should have an impact on fees, bringing them back down to a more reasonable level for the average user.

All in all, it’s not a bad time to be an Ethereum miner, though. What are you most excited about for Ethereum 2.0? Do you think high fees could cause a long-term issue?

Meet the Grandma of a Medical student who bagged her PhD Honors @62

Today I’m going to share yet another inspiring story with you, Team-icastemedia thrive to share stories that needs to be heard and since you’ve landed safely on this page, I hope you’ll not only be inspired but share this story with someone who needs it like I do.

Meet the grandma (Dr. Mrs. Joan Oji)

Joan Oji, PhD English Language

“I am a late bloomer, academically speaking. My Bachelor’s degree was at age 30 but then I was already a mother of 6.”

Despite the fact that she was a settled woman before she could pursue her higher educations, she still felt education is a necessity. One would ask that since she loved education, why that late? But here is her response to your curiosity:

“I didn’t pursue higher education immediately for obvious reasons, despite a First Class Honours at undergraduate studies.”

Now here is the part that challenged me personally as the one sharing this story with you. Despite her situation (though you might ask what situation but don’t forget she was in her husband’s house and she already had children before her undergraduates) and predicament, permit me to use that word, despite her responsibilities as a wife and mother at the same time, she still managed to graduate with a First class honours, wow! How on earth is that possible? But she did it.

Now she did something inspiring as good mother that she is, she did proceed to further her post-graduation at age 50. Like who does that? Honestly speaking I’ve always thought academic pursuit is a personal ambition but if you ask her why she did this at menopause. This would be her answer:

“I returned to personally see to my children’s education, 8 at the last count. To spur them further, I picked up a postgraduate application form 20 years after my B.Ed. The Master’s dragged for so long that I went for a Doctorate soon after. I was nearing 62 and already a Retiree when I defended my PhD Thesis in May 2019.
I got ready for the March 28 graduation ceremony of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, had my gown tailor-made and waited… You know the rest of the story.”

Her reasons for sharing her story

She confessed to intentionally share her story to inspire someone. Could be you.

All of us cannot move at the same pace. What counts is arriving at our desired destination. For me, just owning and rocking this regalia every time I’m a guest speaker at a graduation event is it!
“When a man says yes, his Chi concurs.”

After all effort made by the grandma to set the legacy and proven with her own story and lifestyle that delay isn’t denial and that your delay doesn’t in any way reduce your mental efficiency and your academic capability and height. The children also had no excuse but to live on the footsteps laid down by their predecessor.

“My eldest granddaughter just won a Russian Scholarship to study Medicine in Russia. Prior to this development, she was a 100 Level BSc Nursing Science student at Ebonyi State University in Nigeria. I’m beyond excited!” She concluded🎓🚀

I would like to share so much from what I learnt from the grandma’s story but I’d allow you (my reader) to have the floor.
I’m sure this story, though short and precise, has inspired you. Kindly share your thought in the comment box, we’d love to know how this story has really inspired you.

Thanks for reading!🤗💞

SEE THE REASON WHY ONLY FEW ARE CELEBRATED TODAY

Have you ever wondered while gazing up to the sky as large as it seems, why only few gets the chance to get the top? Opportunities are here and there but only few gets to be celebrated. Yes, I know you must have thought about it at least once, perhaps that’s how you landed on this page. I have many times too, so you’re not alone. Everyone living finds themselves doing something at some point in their lives to make a living for themselves. Hence, the purpose of our engagements(such as job, study, circular responsibilities, social services, an office, etc) is to get rewarded in return. In fact it is understandable that such reward for a job done has been the driving force for which life keeps moving because without those rewards, there will be nothing called job in the first place.

Therefore in this article I’ll discuss the difference that commitment makes in the class of reward for a job-well-done. I’ll also site different instances of people and places where commitment has made a difference when it comes to getting a prize. Although everyone living for a particular something gets a reward for what they do, this is liken to the essence of life because without it there will be nothing to live for at all.

In a lighter vein, we’ll first discuss the nature of commitment. But before we do, what does commitment mean in essence? Merrian Webster defined “Commitment as the attitude of someone who works very hard to do or support something.” It is your devotion to a cause, purpose, dream, job, duty, an office, etc.

The special thing about commitment is that it burns you like a fire; the passion that gives satisfaction to doing a particular thing so much that you cannot but do it with all joy and with all seriousness even when it’s not convenient. You always want to do your best at that thing to the point that you barely know how to do nothing better. When it becomes all your life, even though there is room for other things like family, you still recognize your priorities and you give more time, because this is your life, this is who you are.

Another interesting thing about commitment is that you do not need motivation when you’re devoted because you believe, even when your pairs call you names like “freak” “Overzealous” “nerd” your success at what you do is enough motivation for you to keep you going but “success is not just a finish line in your endeavor, it’s a pathway”. But frankly speaking, even in your devotion to a particular cause, you’ll still encounter glitches on the way, though difficulties are only indications that you’re on the right path but if the road is too smooth then you’re probably walking into a trap.

A student devoted to studies won’t have it all rosy for him/her like it’s a vacation. Frankly speaking “it’s more difficult to learn than to teach,” my professor would say. For someone of his level of experience and expertise, I can accept without an iota of doubt that he must be sure of what he’s talking about. “This is not to scare you but to prepare you for what’s to come” he said in one of his classes at the beginning of the semester in my first year in the university.

But I’ve come to realize that your devotion to that which adds to your essence always pay off. A committed student is bound to expect good result because the yardstick about commitment is that it becomes your character. It tend to reflect every other aspect of your life.

Sadly, commitment can come with pain, that you become weak and feeble. You might even see only yourself and you’re so alone. When this happen, that is not the end but the beginning of greatness, the starting point of a new level so its normal for it to be painful at the beginning of that stage in your life. Below are some of the African icons in history whose commitment earned them the prizes they deserved.

Desmond Tutu, a renowned activist who dedicated his life to fight to see that South Africa becomes a democratic country and just society without racial division and despite violent attacks committed against the black population, he would adhere to a nonviolent line and encouraged the application of economic pressure by countries dealing with the apartheid authorities. The Anglican clergy who fought against apartheid in his country won the 1984 Nobel Price for Peace.

Wole Soyinka, a Nigerian playwright, poet and essayist was referred to as someone “who in a wide cultural perspective and with poetic overtones fashions the drama of existence.” The Abeokuta born won the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature, he was the first black African to win a Nobel Prize in literature and also has a long history of fighting for social justice and human rights both in Nigeria and abroad.

Kofi Annan, a Ghanaian diplomat, was the secretary-general of the United Nations from 1997-2006. He was the co-recipient, along with the UN, of the 2001 Nobel Prize for Peace in the centennial year of the Nobel Committee. He was commended for his commitment to struggle to the spreading of the HIV virus in Africa.

South African writer J.M. Coetzee, is seen in this undated photo. Coetzee has won the 2003 Nobel Prize for literature, it was announced Thursday Oct. 2, 2003. (AP Photo)

John Maxwell Coetzee, a South African author who was the winner of 2003 Nobel Prize in Literature. He was recognized for developing a style that “in guises portrays the surprising involvement of the outsider” The Swedish Academy commended the author as a “scrupulous doubter, ruthless in his criticism of the cruel rationalism and cosmetic morality of western civilization”. Born in Cape Town in 1940, Coetzee won the Booker Prize for 1983’s Life & Times of Michael K before. Over a decade later, he became the first author to win the prestigious British literary award twice with 1994’s Disgrace.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, The first woman freely elected as a head of state in Africa, Johnson Sirleaf took on the leadership of Liberia in 2006 at a time when it was still seeking to heal deep divisions and rebuild infrastructure following a devastating civil war. Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize for her “non-violent struggle for the safety of women”, along with her compatriot Gbowee and Yemen’s Karman.

Serge Haroche, a Moroccan-born French scientist, was a co-recipient of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics, along with US physicist David Wineland. The commitment of the two scientists (who worked separately) paved the way for experiments in the field of quantum physics, after showing how individual quantum particles may be observed without being destroyed. They were recognized by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for developing “ingenious laboratory methods” that allowed them to manage, measure and control fragile quantum states.

And many more but to mention a few in history, these patriotic men and women who were rewarded for their commitment to what they do best, as a result of their consistent contributions and devotion. They got recognized and we rewarded for it and today, their names have gone into history because of their persevering patriotism and commitment to the society through their works.

Those who are not driven with passions cannot be committed, it’s difficult. Some people can’t just be committed because they found themselves in the wrong environment and field of discipline, this has happen to many and can happen to anyone who fails to quickly relate to what really drives their passion. On the quest to get established with one’s dream job in a beautiful environment with attractive salary, people sacrifice their passion for comfort and satisfaction tailored by pressure from family or/and friends around, with the aim of making them fit in to their immediate society. But the people of old times dared to chase what drove their passion that they never got tired even in old age.

No matter what you choose to do in life as a contribution to better living and a better society driven by passion, people will come to reckon with you sooner or later. Maxwell was known for brutal criticism but because he was driven with passion so that people saw through his sincerity, he was rewarded severally for it. He obviously earned it knowing fully well that it’s a difficult thing to stand alone, to stand out and be indifferent among multitude.

Mandela served jail term form 27years for fighting against apartheid in south Africa, but his suffering was not in vain as he was able lay a Democratic foundation for his people, no wonder his was worshipped.

Things will not always be rosy, you might experience rejection, but as far you enjoy what you do, you understand why you do what you do, then don’t stop because you’ll soon be a model that others will come to follow. Imagine the contribution of people like Serge Haroche, his breakthrough in Quantum Physics opened door to advance technology. That’s a model.

You can be one too as long as you can find that which drives your passion and do it tirelessly, is it a new invention that no one believes in? or a contribution to art, is it science or entrepreneur. Whatever you find yourself doing without getting tired of it, whether or not you’re paid for it, do it with all diligence. Many research work became a success because of committed scholars. Remember success is not just the finish line, it’s your pathway. So don’t stop, move forward, there no limit to what you can achieve.
Thank you for reading!👍🏻

Please don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comment box, you can make your contributions too. It’ll be an honour💞💞

MY SPONSOR TOLD ME I WILL EARN N15, 000 ON CROWD1 EVERY WEEK WITHOUT REFERALS

A crowd1 user cried out to Team icastemedia after clarifying the worth of her weekly bonus as a white package user.

My sponsor told me that by paying #40,000 that I’m buying a share with crowd1 and after much persuasion I thought it was fair to invest my money since I would be earning a sum of #15,000 every week. Even though I could use the money for something else, I thought to myself that if invested the money for at least 3months I would have earned myself the sum of #15,000 ×4weeks × 3months

if you do your calculations very well, that should give you an aggregate of #180,000 wow! That is getting more than 400% of your investment in just three months.
Is that even possible?

But the slogan of Crowd1 is “impossible is nothing” so I shouldn’t be an unbeliever and just invest. Please was I gullible? Even if I didn’t want to believe it, it was quite persuading enough to decide for myself whether or not to change my life with this kind of opportunity,..

The 9,000,000 crowd on the platform must have believed the same thing. I’m not alone in this; she must have thought to herself.
And I as the interviewer of this lady, I felt so much pity for this lady as she chuckled at her foolishness after realizing what she’s gotten herself into which is why I’ll use this medium to clear the misconception about crowd1.

I think what many people understand about crowd1 to be (on the contrary) an investment platform where you get a percentage of profit for your invested cash but this is not so at all. Let me explain it this way for you to understand in the simplest way that I can:

Crowd1 is a mobile networking and marketing company: what’s the meaning of this? (Then it will be appropriate to ask)

WHAT IS A MARKETING COMPANY/AGENCY?

A marketing agency or a marketing company is a business responsible for research, analysis, strategy, branding and promotion of products or services. Other roles of a marketing company or sometimes synonymously called a marketing firm is to implement and manage marketing strategies to achieve business goal. So after defining the nature of crowd1’s nature of business now let’s talk about how it applies to Crowd1 inside this article and how is actually works..
So now that you know what a marketing company is and you already catch a glimpse of what crowd1 does, lets now explain in details so you can understand this just like A B C.

WHAT IS CROWD1?

Now, Crowd1 is a mobile marketing company that offers its user a post-paid e-learning program in various field of interest, this is the legit deal. According to crowd1 every educational package on crowd1 contain at least up to 55hours of online e-learning and training. These e-learning packs gives every members the power to educate themselves on different field of interest.

Which means for joining crowd1 by buying and “educational package”(not a share) you’re automatically signing up for an online school of learning. Interesting, right? 😀 but if you were told you’re signing up for an online e-learning to educate yourself would you pay for it? Funny but honestly, education has never been free, trust me just that the packaging can be different from the other one.
But that’s not all, Crowd1 isnt trying to be shady or promise what they are not its just that to help the branding as marketing company.

They devised the best compensation plan for choosing their platform and buying their packages because they believe it was your choice and you need to be compensated and that’s how the compensation plans came to be. And like the cover of a book, the reward on crowd1 has taken the face and displaced the real essence so that it has confused many to believe that crowd1 is money making site and the world is in recession, now is a good time to exploit the desperate, ambitious and naïve minds to getting more cash for themselves.

Yes people are making money off the compensation plans leaving many to believe it the best opportunity to “get rich quick” but let me clear your confusions right here and now.

Those who are making huge profit for using crowd1 are influencers and local marketers who have successfully sponsors referrals on the platform which is very great but most of those they sponsored don’t know what crowd1 is really about all they know is that: since the sponsor has testimonies of earning then they are bound to earn too, Yes but not the same way!

What does this mean? I’ll explain
Its sadly to say that the emphasis that has been laid on Crowd1 Rewards (which was supposed to be perceived as your royalty reward that you receive from using your bank’s credit card; I mean those funny credit alerts you get) has misled many into joining crowd1, I mean many joined for the profit isn’t it?

So just like that loyalty reward program you’re used to from your fiat bank, same is implemented on crowd1; you get rewards in form of loyalty points (like incentives) that grow every week, that’s the streamline bonus you claim every Wednesday though there are other bonus structures, in fact they are five in total that users are entitled to. Check the figure below

Those points are used to calculate your quarterly dividend pay-out from the company through its point sharing. Now let’s analyze your earnings as a nominal user without the aim of getting referrals. Since its not a easy thing paying 40,000 for an unknown e-learning program, at least as student you check out the brochure of an institution before taking the form but majority has been made to believe that crowd1 is an investment site where you join and earn profit of invested money and get rich without working for it. Although its not a pyramid scheme program neither is it an investment site. But no matter how you think about it, only those who can work their ass to sponsor people on the platform has the chance to benefit maximally from the “Crowd1 Rewards

Now let’s say you bought the “White Package” for an average price of #40,000(NGN) and for the first two weeks you couldn’t invite/sponsor 4members that buys at least “White Package” plan through you. That means you automatically lost the “Fear of loss Bonus” challenge which worth €125. And let’s also take for instance you no intentions of sponsoring anyone or you’re just not a skilled marketer who knows how to convince people at doing a business, what are your earnings per month?

* Crowd1 Reward defines the Affiliate’s right to a proportional amount of benefits made by the Company from agreements entered with third party companies. Each Crowd1 Reward will represent a value equal to the total value to be distributed among Affiliates divided by the number of available Crowd1 Rewards. When you happen to receive Crowd1 Rewards as part of your bonus this will be generated by an auto-buy at the exchange rate of 1 Crowd1 Reward equals 20BP (1 BP = 0.1€). Crowd1 Rewards are being offered during the pre-launch period only. Limited offer.

Now calculating your Monthly income on Crowd1 in the first stage as a normal member without sponsoring anyone:
From the above figure your earning starts from 1.25C1 at stage 1 every week and if you have been following,.. We said 1 C1 Reward is equal to 20BP and 1BP = 0.1€
So let’s calculate your earnings as a starter: let’s say you were able to accumulate 50C1 Rewards in a month and you don’t know how much you’ve earned yourself, this is how to calculate your earnings…
50C1 × 20BP × 0.1€ = [press your calculator] the answer you get is how much you’ve earn in Euros.

Please note that the calculations above is just an instance, your earnings are solely determined by every crowd1 members’ engagement on the site. And I’ll like to quote crowd1’s disclaimer(Just an abstract)

So that’s it. Many don’t do their own research before joining earning programs online and as Crowd1 disclaimer reads, the crowd on crowd1 sites majorly ambitious people who’s willing to take advantage of Crowd1 rewards to make a living for themselves.

You might also need to know that crowd1 Reward will not exceed the prelaunching stay. This means that if Crowd1 launches fully to global market by 2021. All crowd1 rewards Ail be halted as the company would have achieved its goal of reaching a particular membership number. That last I checked on crowd1 blog, the goal is 1Billion membership so there is still time to make some cash to yourself if you can work for it. You’re responsible for your own actions. A Developer’s Confession: Why I am quitting WhatsApp? 📱🙅‍♂️

A Tale of a Giant Losing a Tiny Customer

Sandoche ADITTANE
By Sandoche ADITTANE

Short Story

I have recently been contacted by WhatsApp lawyers and they asked me to shut down one of my apps called WhatsBlast (an app to send customized group messages). I tried to come up with different alternatives such as removing the “connection” with WhatsApp or even to put the app open source and remove it totally from the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. They did not accept any of my alternative solutions because the Terms & Conditions are soooooooo broad that they cover any case they don’t like 🤦‍♂️. I lost one battle, and because I never liked WhatsApp (I used it only because of social pressure), I decided to quit WhatsApp. If you want to keep in touch with me, please contact me through Telegram, Twitter, or Email.

What’s in the long story?

In this blog post I will explain and show:

  • Why I don’t like the service and the apps provided by WhatsApp
  • Why I think it’s unfair that they didn’t accept my proposed changes to comply with their Terms & Conditions
  • Why we have to be careful with giant tech corporations
  • What are the alternatives to these giants
  • How to delete your account

WhatsApp services s*ck

As a developer, I spend a lot of time on my computer; therefore I mostly use all my instant messaging from my desktop. This is the main problem WhatsApp, their desktop app. It is very very bad 😞:

  • It can only work if your phone is on and connected.
  • If your phone has a bad connection or is killing the app by lack of memory, the desktop app will not be able to get or send messages.
  • Also, each time I load the WhatsApp desktop app it takes me at least 20 seconds to load. So I better not be in a hurry.

WhatsApp also has other annoying problems:

  • Sending files are limited in size
  • When you send an image, it gets compressed
  • You need to connect it to a cloud provider such as Google Drive to save your history
  • WhatsApp belongs to Facebook, another tech giant (which leads to centralization of power)
  • By default, it downloads all the pictures and videos you receive and it can be quickly spammy and space-consuming
  • The search doesn’t let you find links
  • WhatsApp is not developer friendly

Why was I even using it?

I started to use it when I started my job in IBM to be integrated into the team chat, and be socially accepted, be part of the group, and so on. Basically because of social pressure 😶.

Rest In Peace WhatsBlast

WhatsBlast was the app I build to send personalized group messages. To give a bit of background, it is a pretty tiny app: it has been installed by 22 000 people and uninstalled by 20 000 of them.

How did it work?

It worked the following way:

  1. Create a group, let’s call this group “Friends”, made of 42 of my phone contacts.
  2. Write your message using the tags for example “Hello <Firstname>, I would like to invite you to my bye-bye party on Saturday 12th. Are you joining ?”.
  3. Once the message is written you can see a preview with all the 42 messages filled with the first name of your contacts.
  4. Then you press send and the “magic” happens, WhatsBlast would open an URL like this: https://wa.me/$PHONE?text=$MESSAGE replacing the $PHONE by the phone number of the first contact and $MESSAGEby the message with the first name of the contact. By opening this URL, WhatsApp will open the chat page of the contact with the message prefilled (if the contact is using WhatsApp of course).
  5. The user has to press send (after eventually correcting the message) and press the back button.
  6. When pressing the back button the step 4 and 5 will be repeated with the 2nd contact of the group, and then repeated again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again (42 times because there were 42 contacts in the “Friends” group) 😅.
It’s more or less like doing this 42 times on your smartphone

That’s not very magic, right?

Because this app was not very automated, I got a loooot of bad reviews on Google Play because users expect to have full bulk messaging to send messages in one click to a lot of users. They were expecting this “magic” and got disappointed.

Screenshot from WhatsBlast on Google Play

Therefore spamming was pretty hard. You would get tired very fast if you would like to send 1000 messages or even worst 1000 messages every day it would kill you, it wasn’t made for that because it required A LOT OF MANUAL EFFORT from the USER! This was nothing like automated messaging or bulk messaging.

Then why did WhatsApp lawyers ask me to remove it?

Because of confidentiality statement in their email, I am not sure I can copy-paste their email, therefore I will quote some parts of their Legal Info that they asked me to comply with.

Basically by using WhatsApp I have to comply with their Terms of Service that forbids the following:

  • “violate, misappropriate, or infringe the rights of WhatsApp”
  • “involve sending illegal or impermissible communications, such as bulk messaging, auto-messaging, auto-dialing, and the like;”
  • “non-personal use of our Services unless otherwise authorized by us”
  • “create derivative works”
  • “interfere with or disrupt the safety, security, or performance of our Services”
  • “collect the information of or about our users in any impermissible or unauthorized manner”

Also, they asked me to remove my app from the app stores and social media, to not violate WhatsApp Terms of Service again, and not to use WHATS or WHATSAPP on my app name, and not to design a similar logo.

From all these statements there was one of them I agree I was violating: “Create derivative works” my branding was green and also my name was pretty similar to theirs, WhatsBlast.

That’s why when I answered them all my proposals were including to delete the current app and recreating a new one with another name.

Among the proposal two of them were in my opinion not violating the terms and condition at all (this is exactly what I sent them):

Option 1

  • To create a new app with whatever name, let’s say “FastBlast”
  • This app will have the same flow as the current WhatsBlast BUT
  • The app will not be linked to WhatsApp
  • The user will have to fill an input with any messenger “deeplink” (for example for WhatsApp it’s this one “https://wa.me/” and for viber something like this “viber://add?number=”)
  • Deep links will not be provided, it is up to the user to find the right one and to add it
  • The word WhatsApp will be removed from description

Option 2

  • To put the source code open (without providing any APK, or IPA) on GitHub
  • To remove the WhatsApp deeplink from the source code

For your information: a deeplink is a URL that instead of opening a webpage, opens a mobile application.

The lawyers disagreed, for them it still violates the terms and conditions because they use a magic word, that I call wildcard. 🤯

The power of the wildcard in the legal world

In software, a wildcard character is a kind of placeholder represented by a single character, such as an asterisk (*), which can be interpreted as a number of literal characters or an empty string. It is often used in file searches so the full name need not be typed
– Wikipedia

Here is the wildcard I saw in their terms and conditions:

Legal And Acceptable Use. You must access and use our Services only for legal, authorized, and acceptable purposes. You will not use (or assist others in using) our Services in ways that: […] (e) involve sending illegal or impermissible communications, such as bulk messaging, auto-messaging, auto-dialing, and the like;
– Whatsapp Legal Info — https://www.whatsapp.com/legal/#terms-of-service

Basically my app was not doing any of these: “involve sending illegal or impermissible communications, such as bulk messaging, auto-messaging, auto-dialing,” but was falling into the “and the like”.

and the like;” — There is the wildcard!

I had a call with the lawyer and my brother who is used to work with lawyers, and we asked “What is the exact definition of bulk messaging” they said there is no strict definition of it 😡 and my app falls into the “and the like”.

Basically ANYTHING can fall into this category!

Here is a piece of code I just wrote. For non-coders: it is just comments, basically. Just read it!cid:frame-1A4226AC1294336C77395EF512448E5F@mhtml.blink

Technically this can go against WhatsApp Terms & Conditions because I (while writing this article) am a user of WhatsApp, therefore, I have to comply with their Terms & Conditions. So I cannot assist others to send illegal bulk messaging and the like. Depending on your interpretation, showing this piece of code could be considered as illegal, in my opinion, it’s not.

So where is the limit? Is there a way to know it without spending a ton of money in a lawyer? In this world money is king, and I don’t have enough to fight against a giant.

Rest in peace my dear WhatsBlast ⚰️

So yes, I ended up giving up 😢, and I removed the app from the stores as they asked me to do. I ended up complying to their merciless rules. I am a real respectful citizen of the world now… but at what cost 😐?

The app is just dead now, and the source sadly private.

R.I.P. WhatsBlast, I really enjoyed building you.

You can still check out its tomb:WhatsBlast Bulk MessagingSend customized messages in 4 steps: 1. Write your message 2. Select your contacts 3. Preview 4. Send each message…whatsblast.learn.uno

Any legal alternative?

I don’t know any legal alternative, maybe I can try to build something in the decentralized web, but would it be legal? I don’t know. If you are a legal expert and know any legal alternative, to share my code, or to revive WhatsBlast feel free to comment.

I will just not take any risk doing something illegal, don’t forget: I am a respectful citizen of the world after all.

Beware of the giants (GAFAM)

You probably heard of the acronym GAFAM: Google Apple Facebook Amazon Microsoft (in case you forgot WhatsApp and Instagram belong to Facebook), they are the ones I call the giants or the new gods. When people say “God bless America” they probably talk about them…Who knows.

I am not the best to talk about these giants because I use a lot of their services, I rely a lot on Google (Google Search, Gmail, Agenda, Google Maps, Google Analytics, Android with Google Services, Youtube, …) and Microsoft (Windows, Github, LinkedIn) and I can hardly manage without them because they do provide a good service.

The only thing I know now is that if I have to open a new account in some service or download new software, I will try to look for: Open Source, End to End Encryption, and Decentralized solutions.

Giving too much power to these giants by giving access to your data and just using them can lead to two major problems:

  • Censorship 🚫 —They can just decide what you need to see and what you don’t, it created the filter bubble that lead to Trump’s election and the Brexit, or it can go against progress and decentralization like Google did, or even worst forbid the access to open source code to Iranian’s users (open-source belongs to everyone, it should be a human right)!!
  • Privacy 🔒— As Edward Snowden and Pavel Durov (founder of Telegram) state, WhatsApp is supposed to be end-to-end encrypted app but it is very likely to have backdoors, and foresure governments are pushing to add them. Also, a lot of other services people use and I do too, are not encrypted which leads to privacy issues and can lead to governments to read any of your information.

These two problems are often linked to government pressure. For example, thanks to the CLOUD Act, the government can get anything from the US companies. As you can see in the below article, non-US companies are also getting pressured! What Was TON And Why It Is OverFor the last 2,5 years some of our best engineers have been working on a next-generation blockchain platform called TON…telegra.ph

And here is an inspiring quote from Pavel Durov (CEO of Telegram).

I want to conclude this post by wishing luck to all those striving for decentralization, balance and equality in the world. You are fighting the right battle. This battle may well be the most important battle of our generation. We hope that you succeed where we have failed.
– Pavel Durov

We are not doomed! 😌

Don’t worry we are not doomed. There are still some ways to escape that.

There are still other options, and more and more people conscious about those problems, here are some alternatives:

  • Using a privacy-focused service
  • Using open source
  • Using a decentralized and anonymous (or pseudonymous) technology

Here are a few links (and tools) to continue this way:

Yes I am doing it, I am closing my WhatsApp account

Should you delete your account too?

Do whatever you feel like. I had my own reasons to close my account if you have yours just do it.

Will I survive?

I will 😅.

How to get used to it?

In 2019 I built this service to create a fake app to replace a real one: Detoxify.

It’s free and open-source, and I will use it 🙌!Detoxify app Generate a fake app to replace any addictive app 📱🙅www.detoxify.app

I am still on Facebook for business purpose mainly, I guess the next step will be to get rid of it.
